Supercopa Libertadores 1995

Information

This match features the Flamengo trio labelleb by the fans as "O melhor ataque do mundo" ("the best attack in the world"): the genius Romário (FIFA World Player of the Year in 1994), Edmundo (considered the best Brazilian player in Brazil) and Sávio (considered one of the top Brazilian prospects alongside Ronaldo and, until 1996, regarded even higher than "The Phenomenon" by Brazil's head coach Zagallo). Unfortunately, this trio would be a bust for the most part of the season, especially because of ego confrontations. Vélez Sarsfield, the then reigning world champions, featured the majority of the players that made 1994 the best year in the club's history. Of course Chilavert, one of the best goalkeepers of all time, and Basualdo, a core piece of Argentina's National team in the 1990 and 1994 WCs, were the biggest highlights of this historical Carlos Bianchi's Vélez Sarsfield, which also had other great players like Mauricio Pellegrino, Bassedas and Cardozo. This Mengão vs. El Fortín brings all the atmosphere of the Brazil vs. Argentina archrivalry, unfortunately, even the worst part of it.

El "Time dos Sonhos" de Flamengo fue un fracaso especialmente en ese año 1995 que encima fue el año del centenario del club, peleó casi todos los torneos y perdió todo. Muy flojo abajo ese equipo.
